Spring 2026 semester starts February 6 and runs through April 24. We meet Fridays from 9:15-11:45 at parks and trails near Hillsdale. Register now!
Hillsdale Hikers is an outdoor nature school inspired by the principles of Charlotte Mason. Along with Miss Mason we believe that “there is no education without nature,” and that a connection with the natural world is foundational and necessary. Immersing children in nature fosters attentiveness, peacefulness, gentleness, and a love of learning that will serve a child throughout their life.
“There’s no such thing as bad weather, only unsuitable clothing.”
-Alfred Wainwright
Reviews:
“If you’re considering signing your kids up for Hillsdale Hikers, I encourage you to go for it! My daughters attended Hillsdale Hikers last year and really enjoyed it. We plan to join again this semester. It was a great opportunity for them to learn about nature and explore the beautiful outdoors with friends.” -Kayleigh Knapp
"Physical play, outdoors and with other children of mixed ages, is the healthiest, most natural, most beneficial sort of play"
-Jonathan Haidt (The Anxious Generation)
Hello! My name is Ashley Parker, and I’m passionate about helping young children connect with nature in ways that support their emotional, spiritual, and physical well-being for a lifetime. With over fifteen years of experience and a master’s degree in education, I understand the importance of unstructured play in nature alongside immersive, hands-on learning. As a mom myself, I also understand how valuable it is to have time for yourself, knowing your child is in the care of someone you trust while they explore, get messy, and enjoy meaningful outdoor adventures.
